G/T Education Professional Learning Requirements

Audience Training Timeline

All educators who deliver instruction as part of the district's designated G/T service design (e.g., cluster group teachers, Honors, Pre-AP, AP, Dual credit courses, etc.)

One-time 30 hours of training in gifted/talented education that includes:

  • Nature and Needs of G/T students
  • Identification and Assessment of G/T students
  • Curriculum and instruction for G/T students 

Prior to assignment with G/T students OR within one semester of assignment

Minimum 6-hour  annual G/T training

 Annually (determined by district calendar)

 

Administrators who have authority for program decisions (e.g., campus administrators, G/T coordinators, counselors)

One-time G/T training including nature and needs of G/T students and program options for G/T students. 

Prior to assignment/within one semester of assignment

Update after each legislative session

By the end of the  school year

 

Counselors who work with G/T students

One-time G/T training that includes nature and needs of G/T students, program options for G/T students, and social emotional learning for G/T students. 

 

Prior to assignment/within one semester of assignment

Update after each legislative session By the end of the school year
