    • The "Exploration" pathway is designed for 11th grade
    • The "Engagement" pathway is designed for 12th grade
    • Included this year are tours of the campus, incredible sessions, and scholarships.

Sarah WillisOur invited Teacher of the Year is Sarah Willis. Mrs. Willis grew up with educators as parents; so it is no surprise she decided to follow in their footsteps. After graduating from Groesbeck High School in 2008, Sarah attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas from 2008-2012. She has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Communications. After graduation and a short stint in the health & wellness industry, Mrs. Willis received her emergency certification through Texas Teachers in both Secondary English and Special Education (EC-12).

As a young and passionate teacher, Mrs. Willis has taught in the Houston area (Crosby High School), the Corpus Christi area (Flour Bluff High School), the East Texas area (New Boston High School) and is currently teaching English 1 at San Angelo Central High School on Oakes.

Mrs. Willis is also ESL certified and loves teaching Emergent Bilingual students. Because of this, she is consistently challenged and appreciates cultural diversity. Therefore, Sarah’s classroom is lively and full of laughter and collaboration.

This past school year, Sarah was honored as Central High School’s Teacher of the Year, advancing to San Angelo ISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year and then again as Region 15’s Secondary Teacher of the Year. Sarah was invited to a celebration at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock as one of Texas’ Top 40 Teachers.

Sarah prides herself on building authentic relationships with her students, which positively impacts engagement and instruction in her classes. Sarah lives out the belief that the future of the world is in the hands of her students and creates relevant lessons which her students will take with them, down any path of their choice.
